In Book One, we meet the residents of the Flabbergast Farm.
When the local Government Inspector arrives to inspect their farm, he gives them the worst news possible. The nasty next-door neighbors want the farm gone by the end of the week and the Inspector is there to make that happen.
It’s all beaks, claws, paws and hooves to the rescue. Opera singing pigs, a charming cat, a llama in a feather boa, a ninja duck and the naughtiest goat in the world are all ready to slime, spook and spot their way out of trouble. But can they save the farm in seven days?

E.J. Daubert was born and raised in England, hopped around America and now lives in Virginia with her husband, two rapidly growing children, a very talkative cat and a cello.
Molly Pickering, (age 12,) and her grandmother, Eugenia Flabbergast, (age unknown,) run the Flabbergast Farm. Their big secret is that all the animals on the farm can talk.
To make sure everyone gets fed, the animals earn money by appearing in tv adverts and programs, films and the occasional live performance.
The are known as the Animal Agency, and they have a stellar reputation for how well all the animals are trained. Little do their clients know, the animals understand every word they say.
Jinks - the naughtiest goat in the world - and that's saying a lot for goats. Jinks loves to play tricks on everyone else, but he can't take being the butt of a joke himself. He's the one who always comes up with a great plan when they need one.
Freya - the sleek and smart black cat. She keeps a close eye on Molly and pays attention to everything happening around the farm.
Rosemary and Lavender - the two Gloucester Old Spot pigs hold pride of place in the their pig sty in the center of the farmyard. Their particular talent is singing opera, and they consider themselves a cut above the rest of the animals.
Winston - a huge Old English Sheepdog whose carelessness and love of treats often leads to him nearly letting the cat out of the bag about the farm's secret. But he means well. He has an ongoing feud with Freya, the farm cat.
Hampton- the Carthorse is a retired army horse. He is known for having a cool head in a crisis and a strong set of morals.
Donald - he was born to a group of seaside donkeys in North Wales, but has lived at the farm for several years. Donald is Hampton's sidekick and the two are always together. He is a rather curious donkey and can be relied upon in a crisis.
Robbie - the only rooster on the farm. He guards his ladies fiercely, and is famous for his rockstar look and sound. His favorite chicken is -
Bella - the top chicken . She sports a fancy chicken sweater whenever possible, and hangs out with Amy, Clara, Doris, and the other chickens.
